The tears here at home today.
Moving day for someone famous.
Today we saw the images of Bei Bei,
four-year-old giant panda
getting ready to leave America,
to leave his home at the National Zoo
in Washington DC, heading for China.
It's all part of the long-standing
agreement between the US and China
in the effort to save
the panda population.
Giant panda cubs in US zoos
go to a breeding program in China
as they turn four.
Laurie Thompson on the right was
one of the first to hold Bei Bei,
and she's traveling back with him.
I'm gonna be going with Bei Bei
And on the plane, I'm just gonna
make sure that he's well-fed
and that he's happy in his crate.
Specially designed crate just for him,
plenty of bamboo to eat on the way.
